Relevant Experience

My introduction to the advertising agency business began at Doyle Dane Bernbach in NYC. Their clients included VW, Bulova Watch, Sony, American Airlines, El Al, Polaroid, to name just a few. Hired as a “runner” in the Traffic Dept, I left the agency as VP. My responsibilities included development of client marketing plans, and presentations of advertising materials to senior management and sales forces. 

With the opportunity to buy 50% of an ad agency in Phoenix, we moved there, and built Patchen Brownfeld from 5 people to thirty, with billings going from $850,00 to thirteen million in 6 years before selling the agency. Our clients included American West Airlines (now American Airlines), Syntex Ophthalmic, Bar-S Foods, Arizona Biltmore Resort, Phoenix & Valley of the Sun Convention & Visitors Bureau, Continental Homes and Irvine-based Lincoln Savings Bank. The agency also did pro bono work for the Heard Museum and the Phoenix Symphony. 

My partner and I were featured on the cover of two Arizona marketing magazines as the leading ad agency in AZ.  As proof of our contribution to our clients’success, we were awarded two Effies by the American Marketing Association, NY Chapter. These are given for effectiveness of advertising based on specific goals.
